From $25.00 to $2500.00, from 400 watts to 5kw, from surplus and used to brand spanking new, we'll show you how to match your
budget, local wind conditions and generator
for a fraction of the price you'll pay elsewhere.

If you have an Ametek gen or any sized PM DC gen and want it rebuilt, visit Ametekdcmotors.com for a quote on rebuilt, new and used PM DC motors and service.

PM DC Motors for small and large blades:

(more info here)

(rebuilt gens here)

These are the basic motors we offer. For larger blade systems, click here. We will find your generator to match your budget and wind conditions and match it to a specific prop diameter and power band you request and can afford.

We are the only firm that custom carves airfoils for our customer's local wind conditions and generators - no charge.

Some 6 foot and 6'6" and 7 foot blade customers underestimate how much wind they have and ask for blades carved for low winds, wide tips etc.

In high winds, these powerful blades will quickly take the standard motor to it's limits (around 30-40 knots) and while they will produce more power with more wind, a larger gen is more efficient at higher speeds. If you find your blade is easily hitting top speeds, we suggest you upgrade your motor to a 1/3rd or 1/4 HP gen and use the smaller gen included with your blade for light wind seasons.

Check out the formula here.

Check your local wind speeds with these maps of the U.S., Canada and Australia.

WARNING:

We make blades. Wo not stock motors. We buy them from surplus houses and OEM (new) equipment manufacturers. Surplus prices and availability change rapidly and the prices below may not be the same as current prices. For current prices and availability click here

1500 watt - 5000 watt PM DC gens are also available. New these cost $1500.00 to nearly $3000.00 and require 6 foot airfoils and great wind, or 7 to 12 foot airfoils for light and medium wind conditions. You can compare them for cost per amp against dozens of other makes, models and manufacturers here.

For this same generator, our customers are paying roughly $200.00 - $300.00 for the same gens or about 1/6th the manufacturer's suggested retail price. We try to bring you the lowest cost per amp.

Want to know if a motor is suitable for Wind Generation?

  1. It must be a PM DC Motor or you need special circuits, diodes, rectifiers etc.

  2. It must produce 12 volts at less than 400 RPM; the lower the better.

    HERE'S THE FORMULA:

    1. Take the rated RPM and divide by the rated voltage:

      i.e. 1750 RPM / 120VDC = 14.58 RPMs for ONE VOLT. Ideally this is 25 or less.

    2. Multiply the answer by 12 for the RPMs required to achieve 12 volts. In this case it's 174.96 RPMs to achieve 12 volts: a great score!

  3. If it's less than 400 RPM it's OK. If it's less than 300, it's good. If it's less than 200 it's great! That means hardly any wind/RPMs will start charging quickly.

  4. However, with smaller blades or larger gens, more wind is required to get them to spin.

  5. The trick is to match the blade to the generator to the wind conditions and some experimentation may be required for your particular site.

  6. If you received a PM motor from us and it is under/over rated for your wind conditions or blade size, we are happy to exchange it with a customer who wants a smaller or larger gen. We simply let you two folks meet and trade equipment as needed, provided you do not hold us responsible for any portion of your transaction with any third party.
